Before we delve into the specific titles, let me set the stage. My reading preferences are diverse, spanning genres from historical fiction and thought-provoking non-fiction to compelling contemporary tales. I’m drawn to stories that challenge my perspectives, introduce me to new ideas, and, most importantly, leave a lasting impact long after I’ve turned the final page. My my reading list is a carefully curated selection reflecting this passion. I try to balance books that are well-regarded and critically acclaimed, along with recommendations from friends, and ones that resonate with my interests at any given moment. This makes my reading list a dynamic collection, constantly evolving to reflect my own changing interests and tastes.

Currently Reading: Stories Unfolding Now

Right now, I have a few books I’m juggling, each offering a different flavor and perspective. The wonderful thing about reading multiple books simultaneously is that it offers the chance to find what matches your mood. This selection of titles gives me this opportunity:

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

This book has been on my radar for a while, and I finally decided to begin it. The story is set in France during World War II, following the lives of two sisters navigating the hardships of Nazi occupation. The book had been praised for its historical accuracy and powerful portrayal of women’s resilience during this difficult time. I’m just at the beginning, and the characters are already deeply compelling. I can’t wait to see how their journeys unfold and the emotional challenges they will face. I am hopeful that The Nightingale will be another great addition to my current my reading list.

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari

This book has been a long-time recommendation from friends and colleagues. Sapiens offers a sweeping overview of human history, from the Stone Age to the present, delving into the forces that have shaped our species and our world. It’s a big read, packed with ideas. So far, the scope of the book is fascinating, and it is challenging me to rethink some assumptions. I appreciate the author’s bold insights and the way he connects seemingly disparate events to create a more comprehensive understanding of the human experience. The amount of information is a bit overwhelming, but, that is what makes this book so exciting. I’m excited to see how I’ll feel after finishing it. This book is a must-have in my current my reading list!

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

After I completed The Martian, I felt compelled to check out other books written by this author. Project Hail Mary follows an amnesiac astronaut who wakes up alone on a spaceship with a mission to save humanity. Weir is excellent at weaving science facts in an easily digestible way. I’m enjoying this book immensely. I am very invested in the character development, and the pacing is excellent. I can’t wait to see how the story progresses and if humanity will be saved. Without a doubt, this novel is one of the best additions to my my reading list.

Anticipated Reads: The Treasures to Come

The real fun, I think, comes from the anticipation. There’s something delicious about building up expectations for a new book. And, I have quite a few books waiting in the wings. These are the titles that have earned a place on my “To-Be-Read” list, carefully selected based on reviews, recommendations, and my own particular interests:

Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro

I’ve always been a fan of Ishiguro’s subtle storytelling, and this book is no exception. This novel is set in a dystopian future and is narrated by an Artificial Friend named Klara. I’m eager to explore the themes of artificial intelligence, love, and humanity through Klara’s eyes. The author is known for his understated prose and the emotional depth of his characters, so I have very high hopes for this one. From reviews, I hear it is a unique and touching read that offers food for thought.

The Secret History by Donna Tartt

A classic that I have avoided for too long. This book is set in a New England college and follows a group of eccentric classics students who become involved in a dark secret. The themes of friendship, morality, and the complexities of human nature have me captivated already. The novel is renowned for its immersive atmosphere and complex characters. I’m keen on immersing myself in the author’s writing style and seeing how this acclaimed story unfolds.

Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer

As someone who is incredibly interested in nature and sustainability, this book has been on my radar for quite a while. Kimmerer, a botanist and member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, weaves together scientific knowledge with indigenous teachings to explore the interconnectedness of all living things. The themes and ideas make this book quite appealing, and I am eager to discover the author’s unique perspective and gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

I am always seeking a lighthearted read in between the heavy ones. This book has gotten incredible praise for being uplifting and heartwarming. It tells the story of a social worker who investigates an orphanage for magical children. It is said to explore themes of acceptance, found family, and the importance of embracing our differences. The reviews mention that this book has a charming atmosphere. I look forward to reading this one, which is why I decided to include it in my my reading list.

Genre Preferences: A World of Stories

My tastes are not limited to a single genre. I truly enjoy exploring different worlds and settings, but I gravitate toward certain types of stories more than others.

Historical Fiction

I love immersing myself in the past, exploring different eras and cultures. Great historical fiction provides insights into humanity and its complexities, offering a captivating blend of fact and fiction. Books like The Nightingale immediately become must-reads for me. Stories that bring the past to life hold a special appeal for me.

Science Fiction

Science fiction allows me to explore the possibilities of the future and often tackles complex philosophical and ethical questions. It also serves to give me an outlook that I could not have found anywhere else. Books like Project Hail Mary really draw me in.

Non-Fiction

I constantly strive to broaden my knowledge and understanding of the world. I find non-fiction books incredibly insightful and educational. I really enjoy reading about history, science, and philosophy. Sapiens is a great example of a non-fiction book that I deeply enjoyed.

Finding My Books and Tracking My Reading

I am asked often where I get my books. I mostly turn to my local library for physical books, which provides access to a vast selection of titles for free. I also buy books from local bookstores. The ambiance of a bookstore with its shelves of books is a delight for me, and I love to discover new books in person. For audiobooks and ebooks, I often turn to online platforms, such as Kindle.

I use Goodreads to keep track of what I’m reading and what I want to read. It is a great tool for tracking my progress and getting book recommendations. There, I can also read book reviews and post my own. It makes it easier to keep up with the many books I have on my my reading list.
